My goodness — I am just now finding out how nearly IMPOSSIBLE it is to get my blog noticed by anybody. There is this “concept” floating around that if you just write a blog, you’ll all of a sudden get zillions of followers, like one big happy community. Ha! I’ve been blogging like crazy over the past week and my stats show like ONE page view, and that’s my own! So I tried following other blogs (like someone suggested) and now I’m simply following other blogs. Nobody followed me back, or even checked out my blog! So I’m waking up to the cold harsh truth that I have no clue how other bloggers get so many followers. I would welcome any comments and I think I can handle critisism too haha. Let me know! Oops, I forgot, my blog is http://readingandstudy.wordpress.com/ (I guess forgetting to even mention my blog name is probably making lots of people go — “See, that’s why nobody visits that blog, the writer forgets to mention it)

Just keep chugging along. I think getting a blog going is a slow process. The first month I started blogging I was the same I was getting now views. Now four months later, when I post I usually get 100 or so. You can’t just follow people. Look up things in the search area in the reader that interest you,you will find blogs with things pertaining to it, COMMENT, and then follow. People often don’t follow a person just because they followed them, but if they leave a nice comment or two, and showed that they payed interest in the blog, it can be a different story. Off to check out your blog!

This place is…awesome. And totally shameless. I love it! And y’know I was all set to rant at wordpress (aka my computer screen) for getting rid of the showcase forum before I had a chance to use it. Total waste of a good rant. On other hand, I can now shamelessly self-promote [insert evil cackle here]. So here’s my url: lifeasacaterpillar.wordpress.com. It’s a bit of an experiment because it’s a fictional blog but check it out ’cause it’s way cool. And I’m totally saying that because I’m biased. Most recent post is about roller coasters and obscure math terms that look like roller coasters and the new year and family. And friends. And explosions. …okay maybe not explosions – that was a previous post.

E2NZ
E2NZ.org is a group of bloggers who’ve all been migrants or students in New Zealand. It started as a site where they could share our experiences with each other. The site was then opened up to the public.
After a while the discussions grew and they realised that lots of people had had similar experiences to them, the site developed and has now turned into E2NZ.org. People come and go and we’re forever changing and its exciting because we go where our readers want to take us. Since it moved to WordPress E2NZ.org has had over a million visitors and we get thousands more every day.
We now have 606 people following the blog and almost 1,500 following on Twitter.
The latest post is on the topic of the status of women in New Zealand, which has been in decline since former Prime Minister Helen Clark left office. Far from being a gender equal nation New Zealand has very few women in top positions, some of them are a legacy from the Clark era.
This post will be of interest to women intending to work in New Zealand, or those researching gender politics in developed nations.
